Fax 4.3 Release Notes
Released On: 10/01/2007
- Uses a new version of SQL Server. The previous version of SQL Server 7 (the MSDE version) is now replaced with the new SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. The programs are compatible with both databases, but there were numerous changes to the CICSFAX.INI file and most of the .BAT files. You should plan to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition before installing this new release of CICS/Fax. For customers upgrading to this release, you will likely need to use a different PC so that you can test the 4.3 install while continuing with your current release.
- The CICSMAIL program can now be used to check an (but only 1) email address for "bounced" messages. This address must be dedicated to collecting bounced email messages, because CICSMAIL will delete all messages from this addresss. The "From" email address must be this same "bounced messages" email address, so that the SMTP servers will know where to send the bounced messages. To use this feature, refer to the manual for information on using the CheckBouncedEmails and POP3xxxx CICSFAX.INI parameters.
- CICSFAX can now, when using TCP/IP and the 4.6 or later release of eSendIT, initiate a transaction on CICS that will allow it to return processing (FAXPnnn) messages to CICS. Previously, only CICS could initiate a transfer to the CICSFAX server. To use this feature, refer to the manual for information on using the InitiateMsgReturn and ReturnMsgsToxxxx CICSFAX.INI parameters.
