Release 4.6 |
You now have the option to send a TIF-formatted email message as
part of the “alternate” fax process. Options include always
sending an email and the fax, sending an email only if the
primary fax number fails, sending both an email and a fax to the
alternate number (if the primary fails), or sending an email if
both the primary and alternate fax attempts fail. Note that
this function requires release 4.3 or higher of the CICS/Fax PC
server software. |
|
Release 4.3 of the CICS/Fax PC server can now initiate the ESIL
transaction on CICS to return any processing (FAXPxxx) messages
that have been generated since a CICS transaction last initiated
a TCP/IP connection to the CICS/Fax server. The standard CICS
“listener” transaction (CSKL for z/OS, EZAL for z/VSE) is
required for this function. |
|
This is the first version of eSendIT generated using Enterprise
Cobol on z/OS and Cobol for VSE on z/VSE. |

| Release 4.3 |
Web-based access to documents stored
in the ESIFILE is now available with the web access feature.
This provides a host-based alternative to sending documents to
end users—you can now choose to not send documents at all, and
allow authorized end-users to view documents using their web
browsers. |
|
PDF support was enhanced by the
addition of PDF "PageDef" settings, which allow you greater
control over the page layouts in PDF files created. The number
of lines per page and characters per line can be altered by
specifying the page size and/or font size to be used. PageDef
settings can be used with both the web access feature and with
PDF documents sent via email, ftp upload or PC file copy. |

|
Release 4.2 |
Release 4.2 of eSendIT was mostly a
maintenance release, incorporating corrections to the 4.1 code.
Additionally, there were the following enhancements: |
|
Support for creating PDF format files
was introduced. eSendIT can send email messages directly from
CICS with attachments in PDF format. When used with the CICS/Fax
server, eSendIT can also create PDF files on local or FTP
directories. |
|
Support for the "Host Integration
Feature" for Rightfax servers is added. This provides eSendIT
with 3270-based interface to Rightfax servers with the Host
Integration option. |
|
A sample CICS program to create a fax
is now distributed in source form. The member name is ESIPDEM. |
|
The LE/370 runtimes were used for
linking the executable programs: |
|
For VSE customers, COBOL programs are
now compiled with the "IBM COBOL FOR VSE/ESA 1.1.1" compiler and
linked using the LE/370 release 1.4.0 libraries. (This is the
level of COBOL and LE that were part of the VSE/ESA 2.3
operating system, and becomes the minimum supported version of
VSE/ESA for this release of eSendIT.) Versions of LE are
backward compatible, so that all releases of VSE/ESA that are at
least release 2.3 or higher can use the phases as distributed.
However, LE support is required for the CICS where eSendIT will
run. |
|
For MVS customers, COBOL programs are
now compiled with the "IBM COBOL for z/OS & VM 2.1.2" compiler
and linked using the LE/370 release 1.8 libraries. (The OS/390
2.5 LE libraries were used, making OS/390 2.5 the minimum
supported release of OS/390 for this release of eSendIT.)
Versions of LE are upward compatible, so that all releases of
z/OS and of OS/390 higher than 2.4 can use the loadmods as
distributed. |
|
|
Release 4.1 |
Send SMTP-based Internet Email
directly from CICS, without requiring an attached CICS/Fax or
other supported fax\Email server. CICS-only Email can be sent in
plain text and RTF format. (Messages requiring graphics or the
attachment of PC files must be sent using an attached server.) |
|
Upload CICS data and batch reports to
an FTP server (currently requires the CICS/Fax server.) |
|
A new feature called the "Copy File"
function is now available. For "Copy File" requests, the data is
transferred to the CICS/Fax server and then copied by the server
to any authorized network path. Mapped drive letters or UNC
names (like \\server1\public\myfiles\CopiedFile) can be used. |
|
Print line lengths of batch reports
now have a maximum of 255 bytes. Line lengths of messages
submitted using the application programming interface under CICS
can be up to 7978 bytes. |
|
Only 31-bit
versions of most programs in both z/OS and VSE/ESA are now provided. |
