  • New Function 'K' is available in Advanced Member Lists (AML)

When members are selected using function 'K' the action that's performed depends on the type of library the members are in. For load libraries (i.e. RECFM=U), 'K' is short for linK and displays the link date of the load module. For other types of libraries 'K' is short for looK and displays a preview of the member.

When a member of a load library is selected using function 'K', the linK date of the member is displayed next to the member in the Newname column. 'K' can be entered as a line command or as a primary command followed by a member name or pattern; e.g. enter K PGM* to display the link date of every member whose name begins with PGM. Link dates are displayed in YYYYMMDD format so they can optionally be sorted into date order. For example, to sort members into ascending link date order enter SORT NEWNAME A on the member list command line.

When a member with fixed or variable length records is selected using 'K', the member is scrolled to the top of the member list and the first few records within the member are displayed in place of the member list statistics. This allows members to be previewed while still being able to see and select other members from the member list. Any interaction with the member list (such as scrolling or selecting members etc.) removes the preview and restores the member list to the regular display.

  • Edit and View entry options can be set:

When a member is selected for edit or view, a slash '/' can be entered in the member list Newname column to set the edit and view entry options; e.g.  Confirm Cancel/Move/Replace, Preserve VB Record Length (etc).

  • Edit, View and Macro commands can be executed:

When a member is selected for edit or view, an edit/view/macro command can be entered in the Newname column; e.g. if a member is selected for edit and L 12 is entered in the Newname column, the member opens with line 12 located.

  • The previous function can be repeated:

An equal sign '=' can be used as a line command to repeat the previous function; e.g. if a member is selected for view and RESET is entered in the Newname column, '=' can be used to view another member and reset any messages.
