With CICS/CEMT from Batch you can:

• Submit any CEMT SET command
• OPEN or CLOSE CICS files automatically
• Initiate a CICS program or task
• Send a message to a CICS terminal (interfaces with CICS/Message)
• Delay a batch job for N minutes
• OPEN or CLOSE CA/DatacomDB files
• Start or Stop DL1 online processing
• Turn DL1 MPS on or off for batch updating
• Do NEWCOPYs on programs after a production compile

Streamline your operations. Eliminate PAUSE statements asking operators to OPEN / CLOSE CICS files. Cut down on abends from batch jobs trying to update files in use by CICS. Automatically inform users when their files are closed and when they are reopened. Enable or disable transactions, files, or programs. Minimize the time files are closed to CICS for batch updating.

Additional Features:

• Return codes may be set when a command cannot be processed by CICS so subsequent steps can automatically be bypassed.
• Commands may be sent to all CICS systems or a single CICS system.
• Up to 99 CICS systems may be defined to CICS/CEMT.
• Multiple CPU support
• Any non-zero return codes from the CEMT internal processor are displayed on the console with the appropriate error message for the operator response.
• File groups may be defined so a group of files can be opened / closed with a single command.
• CICS files can be changed to OPEN for INQUIRY ONLY allowing batch jobs to update the files while CICS users can still do lookup functions.
• An audit trail is sent to the CSMT Transient Data Queue for each command processed. Commands also display on the console and print on the system printer. The audit trail can also be turned off.
• A user task can be initiated and data passed to it via either a START or LINK command.
• The message command automatically tries to use CICS/Message if it's installed.
