SimpList User
Don Leahy,

"I have been using
SimpList for over a year now and I feel it has boosted my personal
productivity by at least 25%.
In my mind, it has destroyed the myth that a GUI interface is
essential to improving programmer productivity. Before acquiring
SimpList, I looked at another product (not from Mackinney) that put
an attractive GUI face on the traditional IBM mainframe screens. At
first glance it looked good, but
upon further investigation I realized that while there were some
cosmetic improvements, you still had to do things in the same old
way.
IBM's ISPF interface has changed very little over the years. In the
interest of maintaining compatibility with previous versions, IBM
has perpetuated some of the design flaws associated with the
earliest release of the product. SimpList goes a long way towards
addressing ISPF's shortcomings. It allows the programmer to organize
his work in a logical manner,
freeing him from the many restrictions imposed by ISPF.
Today's more complex applications require the programmer to
manipulate many more objects (data sets, DB2 tables, etc. ) than
ever before. SimpList allows you to manage that complexity with a
minimal amount of effort.
SimpList is easy to install and has no adverse impact on overall
systems performance. In fact, you can expect performance to improve
because people are working more efficiently and spending much less
time searching for things in the system catalog.
SimpList makes mainframe programming much easier to learn. Its
design concept, where you select an object and then decide what to
do with it, is similar to that used by Windows applications, which
younger IT workers have grown up using. You no longer have to spend
time learning how
to navigate from one screen to another."
